That feeling when your pup is GETTING IT - the best feeling!

What we’re seeing here is a young pup (still full of energy, and doesn’t know everything yet), learning “leave it”. And she’s getting it! What made the difference?

Rewarding! Rewarding your pup causes a significant surge of dopamine in their brain. Your pup feels great, and this motivates them to repeat the behaviour that earned them reward. It’s just science 🧠🐾

Ready to raise a confident puppy? Let’s make that happen!

Building confidence in our puppy starts with exposing our puppy to new environments, smells, textures, sounds, people and dogs. Commonly know as Puppy socialization.

The BEST time to socialize your puppy is between 8-16 weeks of age. It’s a critical time in your puppy’s development. But, be mindful your puppy isn’t fully protected until the vaccine series is complete. Balance is key!

Here are 5 ways to build confidence in your puppy.

✅ Find a quiet aisle in a department store and let your puppy walk around. Wipe paws after. ❌AVOID highly populated dog areas like pet stores. Or have your puppy take a stroll in the shopping cart.

✅ Walk on playground equipment. Puppies learn through their paws. Walking on new textures is important, think hard surfaces. Avoid grassy areas where it is most likely for dogs to eliminate, and always wipe paws after.

✅ Car rides- drive thru, car wash. All of these moments include new sights and sounds.

✅Water games. Have a puppy pool party, or run through the sprinkler. Have fun!

✅Setup play dates with balanced dogs. Look to friends and family who have dogs you know would be safe around your puppy.

🔑In each activity add praise, rewards and play as your puppy conquers each activity.
